Homage to Alma Mater
T. H. Huxley

Huxley Archives

Behold you know who
Performing the kotoo
And making as a gift
As much as he can lift
Of frankincense and spice,
And such thing as nice is.
     don't stare
But hear his prayer.
Oh alma mater
Mother dear
Now in thy fifth year
Please to forgive this nonsense
And take it as a symbol
That my head's as empty as a thimble
Or else I'd send a better
Birthday letter.
