Why does Node Import self-destruct when doing a reload?!

Is there a particular reason why Node Import decides to wipe away everything one is doing, and go back to the start screen, if they inadvertantly hit refresh in their browser?

I am baffled at how any developer could have worked on this module and not wanted to kill themselves from sheer frustration after the first time experiencing that.
