Samuel, minister of Newtown, LI, joined the Presbyterian community and was active in extending the influence of that name.27
Newtown is now a neighborhood of Elmhurst in the borough of Queens, New York City.
On 30 Jul 1707 when Samuel was 19, he first married Lydia Taylor, daughter of John Taylor (ca 1641-13 May 1704) & Thankful Woodward (-aft 1724).119 Born on 18 Mar 1678/9 in Northampton, MA. Lydia died on 3 Feb 1721/2; she was 42.

i. Catherine Pomeroy, b. 4 May 1708, m. 25 May 1729 Jacob Riker;
ii. Abigail Pomeroy, b. 8 Jul 1710, m. Jonathan Hazard;

iv. Lemuel Pomeroy, b. 23 May 1716, d. 11 Oct 1737 at Curacao; and
v. Elizabeth Pomeroy, b. 16 Nov 1717, m. 11 Dec 1734 Philip Edsall.119
In 1725 Samuel second married Elizabeth Webb, daughter of Rev. Joseph Webb (10 May 1666-19 Sep 1732) & Elizabeth Nichols (2 Apr 1668-15 Feb 1717/8).119 Born on 14 Feb 1696/7. Elizabeth died in 1765.
