3862. William Eaton. Born ca 1604 in Staple, Kent. William died on 13 May 1673 in Reading, MA.84

“William Eaton was born in England, about 1604. He was a husbandman in Staples, county of Kent. He married Martha Jenkins, and accompanied by his wife and children—William, Martha and John—sailed from Sandwich, June 9, 1637, and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts, of which he was a proprietor in 1642 and freeman in 1653. He subsequently removed to Reading.”113

William moved from Watertown to Reading. He was a freeman in 1653.120

On 26 Jan 1627/8 William married Martha Jenkins, daughter of Edward Jenkins & Martha Phillips, in St. Johns of Thanet, Staple, Kent. Born on 23 Jan 1604/5 in Staple, Kent. Martha died in Reading, MA, on 14 Nov 1680; she was 75.84

One source says Jonas came over in 1637 as a servant of William Green.

Jonas of Watertown, removed to Reading.

Jonas lived on the northwest part of Cowdrey’s hill in Reading. He was a freeman in 1653, and a selectman.120

On 1 Dec 1648 Elizabeth married James Davis, son of James Davis (-29 Jan 1678/9) & Cicely Thayer (-28 May 1673), in Haverhill, MA.192 Born on 4 Jul 1619 in Thornbury, Gloucestershire. James died in Haverhill, MA, on 18 Jul 1694; he was 75.

James came to New England with his parents.
