On 12 May 1658 Mercy married Samuel Freeman, son of Samuel Freeman (ca 1600-ca 1644/1646) & Apphia Quick (-bef 1 Aug 1668), in Eastham, MA.18 Born on 11 May 1638 in Watertown, MA.35 Samuel died on 25 Nov 1712; he was 74.38

On 1 Mar 1689 Priscilla first married Rev. Samuel Talbot in Bristol, RI.18

In May 1708 Priscilla second married John Irish, son of John Irish (ca 1611-bef 5 Mar 1677/8) & Elizabeth [Irish] (-after 23 Mar 1673/4), in Little Compton, MA (now RI).256 John Irish and Prescilla Church were married by Benjamin Church, Justice. Born say 1647. John died on 21 Feb 1717 in Little Compton, MA (now RI).295

3659. Edward Southworth. Born ca 1644 in Duxbury, MA. Edward died on 7 Dec 1728 in Duxbury, MA.297 Occupation: Yeoman.

From the Southworth Genealogy:38
    In 1667 he appears on the treasurer's book as due by rates to the Colony £OO.09.00. He served on "Corrowners jury" in 1673; was constable for Duxbury in 1677; in 1679 was one of a committee to lay out a highway; in 1686 was summoned to serve on the jury, but neglecting to appear, was fined 10s.; was deputy to the General Court for Duxbury in 1689 and 1691. Res. Duxbury, where his children were born.

On 16 Nov 1671 Edward married Mary Pabodie (8352) , daughter of William Pabodie (3087) (ca 1619-13 May 1707) & Elizabeth Alden (5327) (ca 1625-31 May 1717), in Duxbury, MA.183 Born on 7 Aug 1648 in Duxbury, MA.183 Mary died aft 1727.36

3660. Alice Southworth. Born ca 1646 in Duxbury, MA.282 Alice died on 5 Mar 1719 in Freetown, MA.298,256

On 26 Dec 1667 Alice married Capt. Benjamin Church (9430) , son of Richard Church (ca 1608-27 Dec 1668) & Elizabeth Warren (3323) (ca 1616-9 Mar 1669/70).282 Born ca 1640 in Plymouth, MA.36 Benjamin died on 17 Jan 1718 in Freetown, MA.298,256 Occupation: carpenter.

Benjamin was the first ‘Englishman’ to settle at Little Compton in 1675. He was a hero in King’s Philip’s War. He was involved early on in the war at Pease Field Fight in Jun 1675, later in the massacre at the Great Swamp in Dec 1675, and he lead the expedition that resulted in King Philip’s capture in Aug 1676. For a popular introduction to King Phililp’s War including Benjamin’s involvement and excerpts from his diary, see King Philip’s War: the history and legacy of America’s forgotten conflict, by Eric B. Schultz and Michael J. Tougias, Countryman Press, Woodstock, VT, 1999.

Benjamin dictated to his son Thomas his story published in 1716 as Entertaining Passages Relating to Philip’s War. Various editions have been published including The History of Philip’s War, Commonly Called the Great Indian War of 1675 and 1676, edited by Samuel Drake in 1829 and reprinted in 1989 by Heritage Book, Bowie, MD. See also the Diary of King Philip’s War, 1675-76, with an introduction by Alan Simpson and Mary Simpson, Lockwood, Tiverton, RI, 1975.

Col. Benjamin Church, Esq., and his wife Alice, both from Bristol, were admitted to the United Congregational Church in Little Compton March 1716/7.295

On 10 Jan 1671 Nathaniel married Desire Gray (10232) , daughter of Dr. Edward Gray (ca 1629-30 Jun 1681) & Mary Winslow (3589) (ca 1632-1663/5), in Plymouth, MA.67,66 Born on 6 Nov 1651 in Plymouth, MA.66 Desire died in Plymouth, MA, on 4 Dec 1690; she was 39.67

David, of Duxbury, “was much employed in the public business of teh twon, one of its selectmen, its deputy, and likewise an assistant in the Government. He was likewise a prominent member of the church, said to have been one of its deacons, and a mand of the highest respectability. He received a grant of 40 acres in 1679, west of South river.”171
