Abstract: "9 February 1566/7 - the will of John Wheeler of Cranfield, county Bedford, husbandman, sick of body ... to be buried in the churchyard of Cranfield ... to the church of Lincoln 2d ... for tythes forgotten 12d ... to the bells 12d ... to the poor men's box 8d ... to the highways 3s.4d ... to the poor within the parish 6s.8d ... to Robert Tatham a yearling bullock ... to Annes my servant 2 couples of ewes & lambs ... to Matthew Vauxe a red heifer ... whereas the church by my office oweth me 20d, I do forgive the same ... I will & give all my copy hold land within Cranfield as by surrender thereof made into the hands of Robert Styrmy ... to the use of Thomas Wheler my son ... and he to enter to the same at age 21, paying out of the same to John my son when he cometh to the age of 21 years L10 & within 8 years next after the same payment another £10 to the same John ... residue to Alice my wife, she to be sole executrix ... supervisor to be Robert Styrmy & he to have for his pains 20d. Witnesses: William Baker, William Wheler, jun & Richard Mowse. (Bedfordshire Wills 1567/89)

On 24 Apr 1560 John married Alice Sayre, daughter of William Sayre (ca 1520-ca 1564) & Alice Squire (-ca 1567). Born ca 1534 in Hinwick, Bedfordshire. Alice died on 15 Apr 1567 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.
